Can Anthropic Win the Consumer Market? Yes. Here's how.
People who are already into optimization will get significantly more out of Claude than someone who uses AI as a better search engine.

anthropic already won on crypto, media presence, founder led content and dev mindshare. 29% enterprise market share, up from 18% in a year. 70% of fortune 100 use claude. the builders are sold but consumer market share is sitting at 4.5%. chatgpt has 60%. that’s the gap.
and the audience sitting right in that gap? people like me.
the 25-35 bracket that tracks sleep scores, gamifies productivity, spends on tools before clothes. the numbers back this up:
biohacking market: $21B in 2023 → $24.5B in 2024 → projected $111B by 2034, growing ~19% year over year
30% of gen z and millennials prioritize wellness significantly more than last year vs 23% for older generations
productivity apps market: $12.26B, growing at 15% year over year
self improvement youtube: 10x channel growth, creators pulling 200K+ views per video consistently
why does this matter for anthropic? because this generation doesn’t optimize one thing. we optimize everything. work, health, time, recovery, output. the whole point is to get more done faster so there’s room for the ice bath after the run, the deep work block before the meeting, the life that exists outside the screen. ai tools are just the next layer of that stack. and we don’t adopt them because of brand. we adopt them because someone showed us proof that it actually works.
which brings up the next question. how does this generation actually find and buy?
41% of us go to social media before search engines for information
85% purchase products after watching video about them
61% of gen z and millennials increased video consumption during covid
a significant chunk of us finished degrees online because of lockdowns. we learned through screens. we buy through screens
right now anthropic’s instagram is a mix of museum partnerships, gen z lifestyle clips, hackathon content and product drops. no tiktok account at all. influencer program is 31 creators, mostly mid-tier linkedin. their marketing team was literally one person for 10 months. when you’re trying to speak to everyone at once you end up resonating with no one
and that’s the missed opportunity. people who are already into optimization will get significantly more out of claude than someone who uses ai as a better search engine. they’ll explore the depth, build systems around it, and they’re the ones who will convert to a higher tier than just $20 a month. just like it makes sense that creative people invest in and optimize for midjourney and nanobanana, the optimization crowd is claude’s natural audience
here are two tactics i would recommend the team to test out:
first, a behind the scenes playlist. day in the life content from people actually working at anthropic. what does bryan do in a day. how does the team use their own product internally. short form edits for tiktok and yt shorts, long form versions for youtube. both formats, same content, different cuts
second, targeted case studies. but not random ambassadors across random industries. find the people in each niche who are already known for optimization and automation and double down there. team up with ali abdaal and build a skill based on his wheel of life framework where you rate different areas of your life, identify where you’re falling short, and set targets to improve them. create a writing skill with @thedankoe.
these are creators whose audiences already think in systems and workflows. the fit between their audience and claude’s depth is already there. filmed short form and long form, with the long form youtube versions posted directly from the creators’ own channels and reshared by the anthropic team
for what it’s worth, i got converted the same way. saw a video mid 2024 about using claude to optimize workflows, tried it that day, and went down the rabbit hole from there. no ad brought me in. no landing page. just someone showing how they actually use it
Anthropic doesn’t need to convince this audience. they just need to reach it.
